Amsted Rail’s IONX LLC subsidiary is providing its digital asset monitoring solutions to European railcar lessor Ermewa Group.
IONX LLC, a unit of Amsted Rail, and Germany-based rail freight operator Havelländische Eisenbahn (HVLE) have initiated field testing of its standards-based wireless intra-train communication system in freight rail revenue service.
Amsted Rail and GE Transportation have formed a joint venture “to combine GE’s experience in train management and locomotive monitoring with Amsted Rail’s expertise in onboard monitoring of railcar component condition,” the companies said in an announcement. It’s “the first ever integrated onboard train monitoring platform for the freight rail industry.”
