Surf’s up for LA’s new Expo Line
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority reported on July 11 that ridership numbers are up for Metro Expo since its extension opened May 20.

The year was 1953, when the last Pacific Electric streetcar traveled between Los Angeles and Santa Monica. On May 9, 2016, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti previewed the new 6.6 miles of light rail, an extension to the existing Los Angeles MTA Blue Line, that will open to the public on May 20.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) Expo Line extension will open the 6.6-mile Expo Line extension between Culver City and Santa Monica on May 20, 2016.
Testing under way on LA’s Expo Line
Clearance testing for the second phase of the Expo Line light rail project in Los Angeles began April 6 with a train operating under its own power west from Culver City. This is the first time an LRV has crossed the new bridge over Venice Boulevard.
