Bentley Systems, Inc., has acquired GroupBC, a U.K. SaaS software innovator. For more than 20 years, GroupBC and Bentley’s software solutions have been deployed for complementary purposes in an effort to improve project and asset information management.

As part of China’s national railway construction initiative, and in preparation for Beijing to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway was constructed in the Hebei province of northeast China. It opened for service on Dec. 30, 2019.

Bentley Opens Nominations for Year in Infrastructure 2020 Awards

Bentley Systems Inc. recently announced its call for nominations for the Year in Infrastructure 2020 Awards program. The awards, which are judged by independent juries of industry experts, recognize infrastructure projects for digital innovations that improve project delivery and/or asset performance. The deadline for nominations is May 1, 2020.

Bentley Year in Infrastructure 2019 Finalists Announced

Bentley Systems Inc. has announced the finalists for its Year in Infrastructure 2019 Awards program, which honors “the extraordinary work of Bentley software users advancing infrastructure design, construction, and operations throughout the world.” Twelve independent jury panels of industry experts selected the 54 finalists from 571 nominations submitted by more than 440 organizations in more than 60 countries.

Bentley Systems Inc. has released OpenBuildings Station Designer, described as “a new multidisciplinary application for the design, analysis, visualization, and simulation of new or operating rail, metro or other transit stations. Advancing beyond generic BIM (Building Information Modeling) applications, OpenBuildings Station Designer was developed specifically for rail and transit station modeling, with asset-specific content and workflows. It streamlines and automates design collaboration design between architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural disciplines sharing modeling, clash resolution and documentation capabilities.”

New from Bentley: OpenSite Designer

Bentley Systems Inc. has released OpenSite Designer, described as “an integrated application for civil site and land development workflows across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases. OpenSite Designer advances BIM (Building Information Modeling) through comprehensive 3D site design, spanning reality modeling of site conditions from drone imagery and scans, geotechnical analysis, terrain modeling, site layout and grading optimization, stormwater drainage modeling and analysis, underground utilities modeling, detailed drawing production and enlivened visualizations.”

Bentley acquires Keynetix

Infrastructure design, construction and operations software provider Bentley Systems, Inc. recently announced its acquisition of Keynetix, a U.K.-based provider of cloud-based software for the capturing, visualizing, modeling and sharing of geotechnical data.

Abou-Rahme named Bentley Systems Chief Research Officer

Bentley Systems, Inc. has appointed Dr. Nabil Abou-Rahme as Chief Research Officer for Bentley Institute’s Digital Advancement Academies, London. He will lead Bentley’s efforts in digital advancement research, collaborating with government, university, and industry “to promote innovative solutions for advancing infrastructure.” He was introduced April 10 to fellow researchers attending the Future Infrastructure Symposium at the Academies.
