Skanska Koch, a division of Skanska USA Civil, said Wednesday it has been awarded a $10 million contract with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PA) to install more than 175 steel ribs along the North-South Concourse of the new World Trade Transportation Center Hub.

The division also was selected to complete work at the nearby West Street Concourse. Both concourses along the World Trade Center Transportation Hub will serve as connectors for passengers using both PATH and New York City Transit subway services in lower Manhattan.

“Skanska is committed to our long-standing partnership with the Port Authority to improve the public transportation system for those who live and work in New York City,” said Dan Payea, vice president for Skanska Civil. “We take special pride in the work we have been doing to help rebuild lower Manhattan, and look forward to delivering an advanced system that will give New York City a more efficient and safe method of travel.”

Construction began last month, Skanska Koch said.
