Clackamas,Ore.-based United Streetcar, LLC has delivered the first of five streetcars ordered by nearby Portland, Ore., months behind original schedule.

The first car will be tested for the remainder of the month, with expectations of going into revenue service sometime in February. “Currently we’re looking at having it certified by February 15,” Rick Gustafson, speaking for operator Portland Streetcar, told local media. “It could stretch on us, depending on how the tests go.”

United Streetcar has stuggled with delays as it attempts to supply Portland, Tucson, Ariz., and Washington, D.C. Portland last year delayed opening of the east side streetcar line, reaching across the Willamette River, from April to Sept. 22 because the vehicles wouldn’t be ready.
