MUNI E Line gets good initial reviews

San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has been testing E-Embarcadero Line heritage trolley service, linking Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 with the city's Caltrain Station, so far receiving warm reviews from riders and transit advocates.

Trains ran along the route during the America’s Cup World Series Aug 21-23, replacing bus service originally planned to serve the route. MUNI uses its heritage trolley fleet, predominated by PCC cars, for the service.

Normal service routing requires a transfer at Market Street Embarcadero Station.

The E-Line will reappear on Oct. 4 when America’s Cup festivities resume in San Francisco Bay. No public decision has been made on whether, or when, to make the line a permanent one.
