Tynes named new president of Atlas Railroad Construction Co.

RailAmerica, Inc. has appointed Harold D. Tynes president of its Atlas Railroad Construction Co. subsidiary and named Jeffrey D. Sciullo assistant vice president-transit for Atlas.

tynes_harold.jpgTynes (pictured) joined RailAmerica in July 2007 as vice president and controller. In December 2009, he became RailAmerica’s vice president-financial services and treasurer. Prior to joining RailAmerica, Tynes was chief financial officer for QualServ Corp. in Kansas City, Mo.; corporate controller at Great Lakes Transportation LLC in Monroeville, Pa.; and vice president-finance for Precision Castparts Corp. He also served in a variety of finance positions at General Electric and GE Capital. MTynes holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Troy University and an M.BA. from Mercer University. He also completed the GE Financial Management Program.

Jeffrey Sciullo has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University and is a Registered Professional Engineer. With over 27 years of construction-industry experience, Sciullo has been a project engineer and most recently served as senior vice president for Dick Corporation, a major construction company. His experience covers a broad range of markets including bridge and highway, commercial, corrections, energy, and military.

Founded in 1954, Atlas is a railroad engineering, construction, maintenanc,e and repair company operating primarily in the U.S. Midwest and Northeast. From its headquarters in Eighty Four, Pa., Atlas provides railroad-construction services principally to public transit agencies, industrial customers, and short line and regional railroads. RailAmerica, Inc., which owns and operates 40 individual short line and regional freight railroads in North America with approximately 7,300 miles of track in 27 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces, Atlas in July 2010.
