Telvent, a supplier of real-time IT systems, announced today that it will extend collaboration with IVU Traffic Technologies AG, a Berlin-based IT company that develops systems for the transportation industry. The companies, which have already collaborated on Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) ystems and real-time passenger information systems projects, will work together to provide systems to North American transit agencies.

Telvent will offer IVU fleet management technology within projects that will also include passenger information, voice annunciation, and driver consoles. The combined technology “will empower transit agencies and operators to track and manage vehicles using advanced, real-time positioning data,” the companies said in an announcement. “Analysis of routes, stops, and schedules will provide decision support information for operators and advanced reporting to transit agencies, reducing operating costs, enabling schedule compliance and a more efficient use of the resources. The collaboration of the two companies will also enable providing bus, train, and light rail passengers with accurate information on arrival times.”

According to Telvent Chairman and CEO Ignacio Gonzalez, “By partnering with IVU Traffic Technologies AG, Telvent will further broaden its extensive technology portfolio and enhance its capabilities in the AVL and real-time passenger information systems segments in North America. The collaborative expertise of our companies will provide transit agencies and operators, as well as passengers, with accurate, dependable information on travel times through world-class GPS and IT solutions.”

Telvent has completed a wide range of transit management projects in Europe, North America, South America, and the Asia Pacific region.
