GE Transportation has awarded SKF Railway Business Unit North America its “2010 Supplier of the Year” Award. SKF was selected from a field of more than 1,000 suppliers following a rigorous internal evaluation process at GE Transportation. All suppliers were ranked in a wide range of categories, such as quality, responsiveness, ontime delivery, and product design and performance, among others, GE said in announcing the award.

In announcing the award, Loose additionally credited the enabling contributions from the entire SKF organization, including strategically located global railway support teams in Austria, Germany, and India.

GE’s award was presented during a two-day Supplier Conference held at GE Transportation’s global headquarters in Erie, Pa.

The SKF Railway Business Unit is part of the Industrial Division of SKF and provides traction motor bearings, sensorized bearing solutions, and journal bearings and axleboxes, among other technologies, engineered for the railway industry and manufacturers of freight cars, locomotives, and high speed vehicles.
