Parsons names Walker to key eastern U.S. post

Parsons Corp. has appointed of Jannet M. Walker as Vice President and Deputy Eastern Sector Manager of the company’s Rail and Transit Systems Division. She will be based in Jacksonville, Fla.

Walker’s primary focus will be growing the rail and transit business in the eastern U.S., with responsibility for overall operations and sector management. She has more than 20 years of experience as a transportation executive, including program management and management consulting in the public and private sectors. She has a diverse background in aviation as well as rail and transit systems, providing expertise in numerous areas, including information technology, strategic operations, organizational strategy, communications, government relations, and business development.

Walker has served as Deputy Program Director for Philadelphia International Airport’s multimillion-dollar Capacity Enhancement Program, one of the largest such programs in the U.S., and as the Deputy CEO/Deputy General Manager of MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). At MARTA, she oversaw the design and installation of the Breeze Program, a $200 million smartcard-based regional fare collection system, among the first in North America.

Walker holds a master’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of Memphis. She holds memberships in numerous industry organizations, including APTA, CMTS (Commission of Minority Transportation Officials), WTS (Women’s Transportation Seminar), and the IT Senior Management Forum.
