Bombardier touts Madrid Metro CBTC system

Bombardier Transportation said Wednesday its advanced CBTC system, CITYFLO 650, is in service on the 8400 series metro cars that are being introduced on Line 6 of the Madrid Metro, metro, in addition to the 5000 series currently in operation.

bombardier_logo.jpgThe introduction means that the entire operating fleet on Line 6 will be CBTC-equipped, aiding increased capacity, service regularity, and reduced waiting times. The integration of the new trains into the existing CBTC system has been carriedout by the Bombardier CBTC Engineering Centre of Excellence in Spain.

Anders Lindberg, president of Bombardier Transportation Rail Control Solutions, stated, “This approval in Madrid, and our ongoing work in Bilbao and Porto, is further testimony to Bombardier’s expertise in mass transit technology and our strong partnerships. We are very excited to continue our successful work with all our customers including Metro de Madrid and further build our presence in the Spanish rail market.”
