Chinese locomotives en route to Argentina
Written by KeithThe first two CRRC diesel locomotives for Argentina’s meter-gauge Belgrano Cargas network were loaded onto a ship at Lujong port in Shanghai on Oct. 15 in readiness for the start of their sea voyage to Buenos Aires.
CRRC, China, is supplying 107 diesel locomotives, and 3,509 freight cars to Argentina under contracts signed in December 2014. CRRC Ziyang is building 20 six-axle meter-gauge units for Belgrano Cargas as part of this order.
The 50-mph AC traction locomotives are equipped with 2,700-hp MTU Series 4000 engines and Knorr-Bremse braking equipment.
