The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking an innovative Vice President & Chief Facilities Officer to oversee the NYCT Department of Buses and MTA Bus Company facilities, and equipment valued at more than $18 billion.

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced individual with a passion for public service, to fill a key role that is responsible for implementing the Bus Operations Capital Facilities Plan, to include managing the construction of new facilities and rehabilitating the existing 28 bus depots throughout the five boroughs of NYC and the City of Yonkers, NY, to ensure compliance with law, regulations and MTA policies and procedures.   The VP and Chief Facilities Officer will direct efforts to implement Enterprise Asset Management systems and procedures; direct day-to-day facilities management functions and direct the design and modification of facilities and servicing equipment to accommodate CNG, hybrid and articulated buses. In addition, this position is responsible for the integrity and reliability of fuel storage and dispensing systems that dispense over 47 million gallons of diesel fuel annually.

Your Mission:

  • Develop and execute long-term plans for depot refurbishments and retrofits, aligning infrastructure with the evolving needs of the future bus program including identifying opportunities for innovation and technology integration in depot management.
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders on the agency's transition to a Zero-Emissions bus fleet, overseeing the integration of electric buses and associated infrastructure upgrades to ensure a seamless and sustainable shift to green-friendly transportation solutions.
  • Develop and implement equipment maintenance cycles to increase equipment reliability and ensure assets reach or exceed useful life.
  • Develop and implement strategies that respond to environmental and safety regulatory agency audits.
  • Provide direction for administrative support functions, including labor contract negotiations, labor relations process and administration of union preference picks, budget control, timekeeping, and personnel administration.

Who We’re Looking For:  

  • Strategic thinker with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Architecture, Facilities or Construction Management.
  • Experienced professionals with 15 years of experience to include, eight (8) years of supervisory experience, with in-depth knowledge of engineering and architectural practices, construction techniques and practices, labor relations, union negotiations and transportation operations.
  • Forward-thinker who has a proven record of success collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
