The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is now accepting online applications for rail, transit and commuter assistance grants for the 2025 Fiscal Year. The annual grant application period runs through Feb. 1, 2024.
“Rail, transit, and commuter assistance funds are available through multiple state and federal sources to support public transit service, human service transportation, planning, transportation demand management, and rail programs in Virginia,” the agency said. “Current Application Guidance for all DRPT administered grants, including eligible project categories, is available online.
DRPT’s new grants management system/platform is WebGrants. Applications for the Fiscal Year 2025 grants cycle and all other grant management activities from that date will be completed in WebGrants. Information and materials, including video tutorials and required documents to access the new system, are available here. The previous grants management system, OLGA, will be available in read-only mode for current grant recipients until Feb. 1, 2024. Once the application period closes, DRPT will evaluate all submissions and submit recommended project funding to the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) for the Draft FY25 Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP). A series of statewide public hearings will then be held before the CTB considers the final adoption of the FY25 SYIP in June 2024.
DRPT’s public transportation staff will be hosting online Fiscal Year 2025 grant application workshops for their partners. “Participants will have the opportunity to engage with DRPT’s public transportation programming and planning experts regarding the latest information on the Fiscal Year 2025 application cycle, including technical assistance and application guidance on all public transportation programs administered by DRPT, and all applicants are highly encouraged to attend these webinars,” the agency said.
