INRD Promotes Ward to VP, Finance and Accounting

The Indiana Rail Road (INRD) on Dec. 1 elevated Josh Ward to Vice President, Finance and Accounting, succeeding Mike Engel, who will retire at the end of March 2024 after more than 33 years of service.

For 20 years, Ward has held multiple positions of increasing responsibility at the 500-mile INRD, Railway Age’s 2012 and 2018 Regional of the Year that runs in southwest Indiana and eastern Illinois. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Purdue University.

“It is a pleasure to announce Josh’s promotion,” INRD President and CEO Dewayne Swindall said. “His extensive financial and accounting experience and in-depth understanding of INRD make him an ideal fit to excel in the role. His promotion highlights again the positive impact of our succession planning efforts on developing new company leadership.”

In a related development, INRD in November partnered with Cathcart Rail for the handling of its railcar inspection and repair needs.
