CSX extends deadline for board nominations again

Amid a change at the top, announced layoffs and presumptive talks regarding new leadership, CSX Corp. has again extended its deadline for board nominations.

Nominations are to be submitted by March 10, according to the railroad based in Jacksonville.

The carrier has been in talks with activist investor Mantle Ridge regarding the hedge fund’s demand for board seats and to install E. Hunter Harrison as chief executive.

The company earlier called a special meeting of shareholders to vote on Mantle Ridge’s demands.

Last week, current CSX CEO Michael Ward announced his intention to retire at the end of May. The railroad at the same time said it planned to eliminate 1,000 management-level jobs.
