A new expansion of railroad asset management and control technology developer TekTracking LLC’s Commander Terminal Automation (CTA) system has been deployed on two Class I railroads.

The first installation, which has been successfully implemented, is designed to streamline and automate the Blue Flagging process at a primary main line locomotive fueling facility in San Antonio, Tex. The other, for which components have been delivered, is a mechanical facility in Kentucky.

TekTracking describes CTA as a “an innovative control system utilizing TCP/IP protocols, open-sources tech, and wireless devices for a cost-effective yard control solution. With full open-source hardware, TekTracking CTA empowers railroads to take control of their own maintenance. Gone are the days of endless support calls to non-responsive suppliers. With CTA you are empowered to buy off-the-shelf components that can be supported with in-house personnel.”

“We are thrilled to unveil the expansion of our Commander platform, now featuring advanced Blue Flag Automation functionality, said TekTracking CEO Gregory Fogarty. “This innovation will provide immediate benefits to the railroad, enabling employees to effortlessly apply Blue Flags to both ends of a train directly from the fueling pad. The implications for time-saving and enhanced safety are substantial. Our system boasts safety features that confirm the functionality of signals, ensuring a secure operational environment. We remain at the forefront of technology solutions for the railroad industry, continuously contributing to the advancement of safety and efficiency in rail operations.”
