Heartwood and MaxAccel announced Jan. 10 that the two companies have formed a strategic partnership to support freight and passenger railroads with an integrated, digitally led training and compliance solution.

This initiative, the companies say, combines Heartwood’s and MaxAccel’s respective “best of class virtual training simulations and electronic recordkeeping technologies to facilitate, improve and streamline instruction and certification management processes.”

MaxAccel’s SafeTrack Platform’s integration with Heartwood’s FRA and OSHA guided training simulations—already widely deployed across Class I freight and passenger railroads—provides “crucial hands-on enhancements to training,” the company said. Successful completion of these programs for 49 CFR Parts 213, 214, 215, 218, 229, 236, 237, 238 and 243 will automatically be accredited towards an employee’s training requirements in the SafeTrack system.

“We are excited to offer Heartwood’s market-leading training content and simulations to our SafeTrack LMS customers” said MaxAccel Managing Partner Peter Sutcliffe. “This content further leverages the strong value proposition provided by the LMS integration with SafeTrack creating a seamless training to certification/qualification relationship.”

Heartwood Chief Revenue Officer Neil Wadhawan added, “partnering with MaxAccel offers both companies’ customers significant benefits to improve their training and certification/qualification processes. We are looking forward to the benefits this relationship provides in the future as railroads continue to hire and train.”

According to Heartwood and MaxAccel, simulation-based training and virtual reality systems are leading training technologies, which supplies railroads and contractors with a controllable, safe and effective means to instruct and upskill new and existing employees—all while meeting and exceeding regulatory training requirements.

Heartwood says it continues to partner with railroads, instructors and experts to “grow their railroad training simulation library—allowing rail employees to perform critical procedures safer and with less errors.”

Integration with Heartwood’s simulations and guides is now offered through subscription to MaxAccel’s SafeTrack LMS module, with Heartwood offering a new scalable pricing schedule to make their services accessible for railroads of any size.
