AngelTrax, a leading supplier of mobile video surveillance technology for the rail, student transit, waste management and law enforcement industries, welcomed on Sept. 28, 2015, transportation industry veteran Maritza Valentin to the company's executive sales team. Valentin joins Southeastern Sales Executive Alecia Andersen in her newly expanded territory and shares her title as they co-manage sales and customer service in the southeastern United States.

The Andersen/Valentin team will cultivate current and new customer relationships in multiple markets throughout the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. The territory includes several of the largest school bus and mass transit fleets in the country, with numerous opportunities to expand the company’s market share in the transportation industry.

With 24 years in the industry—including sales, management, training and product development for Ricon-Vapor, ISE Corporation, Sure-Lok and Ortho Safe Systems – Valentin has played a vital role in industry improvement as a committee member for multiple national associations such as APTA, UMA, CTAA, NAPT and others. Valentin said the top discussion topics at committee meetings are training and safety, adding that her own motivation for improving transportation safety began in her early years.

“When a dear friend was injured in an accident, her mom had to transport her to school in a van that had no lift or wheelchair tie-downs. They had to use pillows to hold her wheelchair in place.” Valentin saw the need for a safer, more secure way to transport passengers in wheelchairs and found a way to help. “During college, I began working for a company that allowed me to work with a team to design and develop the first retractable wheelchair tie-down.”

Valentin’s extensive experience with product development, system integration and OEMs is ideal for customizing AngelTrax systems to meet the unique needs and vehicle configurations of her customers. She and Andersen, as experienced trainers, are well equipped to teach transportation directors, drivers and supervisors how AngelTrax technologies increase efficiency and improve passenger safety for fleets of any size.

“Because of her influence in the industry and the broad scope of her perspective, Maritza will be an invaluable asset to our team – and not just in sales,” commented AngelTrax President and CEO Richie Howard. “This company will greatly benefit from the relationships she has built, and will maintain, through her ongoing involvement in industry improvements.”
