CHSRA Issues Draft EIR/EIS for Palmdale-Burbank Segment (UPDATED)

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) on Sept. 2 released for public review the Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) for the Palmdale-Burbank segment of its 500-mile Phase 1 system from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim. Update: The public comment period has been extended by 30 days.

CHSRA Certifies San Francisco-San Jose EIR/EIS

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) Board has certified the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) for the approximately 43-mile San Francisco to San Jose section, approving the project. The move completes environmental clearance for high speed rail in Northern California and extends that clearance to 420 miles of the 500-mile Phase 1 alignment connecting San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim, CHSRA reported.

CHSRA: Board Greenlights Two Design Contracts

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has awarded $85.9 million in contracts to advance design of the Central Valley’s Merced-to-Madera and Fresno-to-Bakersfield project segments, covering a total of 52.4 miles.

CHSRA Issues Final EIR/EIS for Northern California Project

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has released for Board approval the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIR/EIS) for the San Francisco to San Jose project section in Northern California.

CHSRA Certifies Silicon Valley-Central Valley EIR/EIS

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) on April 28 certified the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) for the approximately 90-mile San Jose to Merced section in Northern California, approving the project. The move “is a critical milestone that moves the project section closer to being ‘shovel ready’ for when pre-construction and construction funding becomes available,” CHSRA said.

Environmental approval of the CHSRA’s San Jose to Merced project section through the Pacheco Pass will be considered at the its April 27-28 Board meeting.

CHSRA Advances Wildlife Protection Project

A $3.125 million California Wildlife Conservation Board grant will fund the planning, design, environmental review and permitting of a proposed wildlife overcrossing spanning State Route 152, near the San Jose to Merced high-speed rail project section, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) reported on April 19.

CHSRA Releases Final EIR/EIS for Northern California Project

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) on Feb. 25 released for Board approval a Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) for an approximately 90-mile extent of the 145-mile San Jose to Merced Project Section in Northern California.

CHSRA Releases Draft 2022 Business Plan

The California High Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) on Feb. 8 issued a Draft 2022 Business Plan covering project progress plus areas of opportunity; the 500-mile Phase 1 system from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim is now slated to cost up to $105 billion.

The WTS-Sacramento chapter has recognized California High-Speed Rail Authority as Employer of the Year.
