Brookville, Pa.-based Brookville Equipment Corp. said Monday, March 9, 2015 it “shipped an all-new highly-customized 88-ton diesel-hydraulic yard switching locomotive to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS&IMF) in Bremerton, Wash.”
U.S. streetcar advocates expected Washington, D.C., to open the first new streetcar line for service in 2015, but it now looks as if Dallas will get the honor.
Prague, Czech Republic-based Inkeon Group a.s., appears to be the frontrunner among four streetcar suppliers bidding for Oklahoma City’s MAPS 3 project, with Brookville Equipment Corp. still a factor as well.
Four companies are vying for a contract with Oklahoma City to advance the city’s MAPS 3 streetcar proposal by supplying five streetcars for the initial 4.6-mile, 22-station project.
Brookville Equipment Corp. said Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 it and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) have agreed to terms “for the rebuild of 16 Presidents’ Conference Committee (PCC) streetcars, adding a minimum of 20 years of service life to the historic vehicles in a contract valued at nearly $34.5 million.”
Objecting to initial proposals, residents and businesses of Dallas’ Oak Cliff neighborhood are calling for officials to reconsider suggested streetcar schedules limiting service essentially to daylight hours – and no weekends.
