Miner Enterprises Inc. said Thursday, June 12, 2014 that “a Class I railroad has selected Miner’s 5-foot manual AggreGate® outlets for 54 new ballast cars currently being built by FreightCar America, Inc.” Miner did not identify the end-use customer.

FreightCar America commences production in Alabama

FreightCar America, Inc. has commenced production at its new Shoals facility in Cherokee, Ala. The company sub-leased approximately 25% of the manufacturing facility from Navistar, Inc. earlier this year.

FreightCar America notes 1Q earnings loss

FreightCar America, Inc. Wednesday reported a net loss of $2.6 million, or 22 cents per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2013, on revenue of $87.6 million. That compared with first-quarter 2012 earnings of $9.7 million, or 81 cents per diluted share, on revenue of $219.million. Wall Street analysts had anticipated a net profit of six cents per diluted share in the quarter.

FreightCar America logs 4Q loss

FreightCar America, Inc. late Tuesday reported a net loss of $1 million, or 8 cents per diluted share, on revenue of $116.6 million in the fourth quarter, compared with net income of $8.5 million, or 71 cents per diluted share, on revenue of $187.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Andress to head manufacturing at FreightCar America

FreightCar America, Inc. early Friday said Robert S. Andress has been named vice president, manufacturing. Andress will lead the company’s new car manufacturing activities at Roanoke, Va. and Danville, Ill.
