Harsco Rail group lands international orders

Camp Hill, Pa.-based Harsco Corp. Wednesday said it has secured “three new international orders within its Harsco Rail group totaling more than $85 million in projected revenues and further adding to the group’s multi-year production backlog.”

Tie and switch tamping

An increase in heavier and more frequent loads is reducing the amount of time allotted for track maintenance. Those same factors also require main-tenance practices, such as tamping, to not just maintain track, but to sustain that maintenance for a longer period of time.

Noted railway civil engineering and safety consultant and researcher Dr. Allan M. Zarembski has accepted a position as research professor and director of the Railroad Engineering and Safety Program in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Delaware.
