MnDOT Seeks Grant Applicants for Rail Service Improvements

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced on Oct. 3 that $6.5 million in grants are available for railroads, rail shippers, cities and counties to improve freight service that supports economic development. The funding is available through the 2022 Minnesota Rail Service Improvement (MRSI) program, which was approved during the 2021 special legislative session.

Ryberg named TC&W AVP

The Twin Cities & Western Railroad Co. has promoted Tina Ryberg to Assistant Vice President Administration and Operations, based at the railroad’s headquarters in Glencoe, Minn. Ryberg oversees multiple departments including transportation/operations, maintenance-of-way, mechanical, safety, accounting, human resource, and administration.

Twin Cities & Western Railroad marking 25 years

Later this month, Minnesota’s Twin Cities & Western Railroad (TC&W), one of Minnesota’s busiest short lines, will transport something very different—dozens of passengers who, according to TC&W President Mark Wegner, have helped the company survive and thrive to celebrate its 25th anniversary. TC&W began service on July 26, 1991, and operates from its headquarters in Glencoe, Minnesota.
