NTSB Amtrak 501 Report: “Errors and Unsupported Statements”

Talgo, Inc., on Oct. 29, 2019 filed a Petition for Reconsideration with the National Transportation Safety Board regarding the Board’s report, Investigation No. RRD18MR001, Accident Report NTSB/RAR-19/01, on the Dec. 18, 2017 overspeed derailment of Amtrak Train 501 at DuPont, Wash.

Talgo, SYSTRA tapped for railcar rebuild

The Southern California Regional Rail Authority recently awarded a Talgo-SYSTRA tandem a contract worth $138.9 million to rebuild up to 121 Metrolink-operated Bombardier railcars. The base order is for 50 cars with an option for up to 71 additional units.

Talgo wins overhaul option for Metro

Talgo will get to finish what it started for the Los Angeles Metro fleet.In October the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board at its regular meeting exercised an $18.3-million option for the Spain-based company to overhaul the remaining 36 of 74 Heavy Rail Vehicles (HRVs).

Talgo USA Inc. in June received the first of 74 Metro Red Line A650 HRV rapid transit cars from Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) in its Milwaukee facility, and rehab work is under way.

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has taken delivery on the second of two new Talgo Series 8 13-car trainsets the State of Oregon purchased with federal stimulus funds administered in 2009. The first trainset entered service on July 26.
