ASLRRA, Wabtec offer cloud PTC solution

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association has entered into an agreement with Wabtec Railway Electronics, Inc. to provide Positive Train Control (PTC) support to its members via the Wabtec Cloud Multi-Tenant Back Office (MTBO) solution.

ASLRRA, Rockwell Collins partner on PTC

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) has selected Rockwell Collins to assist tenant short lines in creating safety-related documentation required to obtain permission to operate over a host railroad’s Positive Train Control (PTC)-equipped territory. ASLRRA said this is “the next step in our plan to provide a suite of services for short line railroads equipping for PTC.”

Amtrak: Diesel fleet PTC-compliant by deadline

Working with Rockwell Collins, Amtrak plans to equip approximately 310 diesel-electric locomotives with Positive Train Control (PTC) technology to comply with the Dec. 31, 2018 federal deadline mandated by the amended Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008.

New from Rockwell Collins: Shared-network PTC platform

Rockwell Collins on June 2, 2016 launched ARINC RailwayNet℠, described as “a hosted network and messaging platform for passenger and freight railroads” for Positive Train Control, and “designed to increase safety and reliability in the railroad industry and to help railroads meet the PTC requirements mandated by the Rail Safety Improvement Act (RSIA) of 2008.”
