USDOT to Award $905.25MM in INFRA Grants

The U.S. Department of Transportation has chosen 24 projects—seven rail/port specific—to receive $905.25 million in INFRA (Infrastructure for Rebuilding America) grants.

SGIH Opens Import Distribution Facility

The Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub (SGIH), a Broe Group property, has opened a new 388,400-square-foot import distribution space to serve the industrial park’s second tenant.

The Bryan County (Ga.) Mega-Site offers “more than 2,000 acres, rail that runs along the property line, and immediate access to interstates 16 and 95 and the Port of Savannah,” Savannah JDA Chairman Carter Infinger said.

The state of Georgia and the Savannah Harbor-Interstate 16 Corridor Joint Development Authority (JDA) are purchasing the 2,284-acre Bryan County Mega-Site, which is less than 30 miles from the Port of Savannah and offers direct access to Georgia Central Railway, with connections to CSX and Norfolk Southern (NS); the Ceres Global Ag Corp. will build a $350 million integrated canola processing facility in Northgate, Saskatchewan, with a direct connection to BNSF.

The Savannah Port Terminal Railroad (SAPT), which has served the Port of Savannah for 23 years, will add service to GPA’s Mason Mega Rail Terminal when it opens later this year.

SAPT Expands Georgia Port Service

Savannah Port Terminal Railroad (SAPT), a Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) subsidiary, will now serve the Mason Mega Rail Terminal, broadening its long-term rail services agreement with the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA).
