PB Waterloo LRT contract extended

The Regional Municipality of Waterloo has voted to exercise a three-year option to extend its existing light rail transit general engineering contract with Parsons Brinckerhoff and its Montreal-based parent company, WSP.

Hedlund joins Parsons Brinckerhoff

Former Federal Railroad Administration Deputy Administrator Karen J. Hedlund has joined Parsons Brinckerhoff as Director of Public-Private Partnerships (P3s). In her new position, she will work with federal, state, and local transportation agencies as well as private companies to facilitate financing and development of transportation projects through P3s. She will be based in Parsons Brinckerhoff’s New York headquarters.

Balfour Beatty sells Parsons Brinckerhoff

Balfour Beatty has announced it has sold its engineering and design consultancy subsidiary Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) to WSP Global, Canada, for £820 million, or roughly US$1.35 billion (roughly C$1.5 billion).

Vincent Lombardi joins Parsons Brinckerhoff

Parsons Brinckerhoff has appointed Vincent Lombardi a Supervisory Resident Engineer in its New York City office to oversee construction of the entrance to the East 63rd Street and Lexington Avenue station for MTA New York City Transit’s Second Avenue Subway. PB is providing construction management services for the project.

Robert Coward joins Parsons Brinckerhoff

Robert Coward has been named a Senior Supervising Engineer in the Lawrenceville, N.J., office of Parsons Brinckerhoff. He will provide construction management support for the New Jersey High-Speed Rail Improvement Program, also known as the Raceway program, which involves upgrades to the Northeast Corridor between Trenton and South Brunswick, N.J.

Birkelbach joins Parsons Brinckerhoff

Ronald L. Birkelbach has been named a Vice President at Parsons Brinckerhoff, and will lead the company’s systems group in the Northeast region, which provides comprehensive engineering services for rail and transit systems projects. He will be based in the Newark, N.J. office.

Detroit transit services contract to PB

The Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) has awarded a contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff for on-call services for transit infrastructure improvements in the Detroit area.

Gainesville, Fla., weighs streetcar line

Consultants are working with a Streetcar Project Advisory Committee in Gainesville, Fla., to prepare a proposal for a line linking the city’s downtown with the University of Florida.
