ARM Grabs RTA Grinding Deal

The Greater Cleveland RTA (GCRTA) awarded a multi-year contract to Advanced Rail Management, Corp. (ARM) to provide rail grinding project management designed to improve wheel/rail interaction on 38 track-miles on the Red Line rapid transit line and 10 track-miles on the GCRTA Blue and Green light rail lines. ARM will provide project management and will be responsible for the quality, technical accuracy and coordination of all required services through 2023.

Greater Cleveland RTA recently canceled a new railcar RFP when the only bidder whose proposal was considered did not respond to technical requirements.

Greater Cleveland (Ohio) Regional Transit Authority (RTA) canceled its railcar procurement Request for Proposal (RFP); Denton County (Texas) Transportation Authority (DCTA) received four first-place honors in the 2021 AdWheel Awards, presented by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA); and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and Amazon are partnering on a transit-oriented development (TOD) program to create 1,000 affordable housing units.

“In communities across the country, there is tremendous need for transportation projects that create high-quality jobs, improve safety, protect our environment and generate equitable economic opportunity for all Americans,” U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said. “With RAISE grants, we are making those needed investments in our communities’ future.”

USDOT: First TIGER, Then BUILD, Now RAISE – Grant Applications Welcome

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the RAISE program, providing $1 billion in FY 2021 discretionary grant funding for rail, transit, road and port infrastructure projects.

The Greenbrier Companies has announced leadership promotions in five business units. In addition, Duos Technologies Group, Inc. has appointed rail industry veteran Edmond (Ed) L. Harris to its Board of Directors; WSP-USA has named Thomas LeBeau and Darwin Desen to the national Transit and Rail team; and Greater Cleveland RTA has named Mark Petit Deputy General Manager of Innovation and Technology.

As the $24.9 billion in CARES Act funding for transit runs out, 10 agencies advocated on Dec. 9 for another relief package from Congress.

USDOT Awards $1 Billion for 70 Infrastructure Projects

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) will distribute $1 billion among 70 surface transportation infrastructure projects in 44 states through its Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants program. The Fiscal Year 2020 program is for planning and capital investments.
