Tri-Rail, Virgin Trains USA Vying for Miami Access

A railroad battle is shaping up in Miami. Two competitors want to serve potential commuters into Brightline’s new Miami Central downtown hub. It may not be as dramatic as the Chile War, when the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe and the Denver & Rio Grande Western literally fought armed skirmishes to determine who could build new rail lines in the New Mexico Territory in the early 1880s, but it nevertheless is a battle.

Grupo México completes FEC acquisition

Grupo México, S.A.B. de C.V. has completed the acquisition of Florida East Coast Holdings Corp. (FEC) through its Transportation Business Unit Grupo México Transportes, S.A. de C.V. (GMXT).

FECR expands intermodal service in Central Florida

Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) is expanding its intermodal rail service into Central Florida to include next-day service to Fort Pierce on weekends. Previously, FECR provided next-day service to Fort Pierce six days per week.

For FEC, intermodal expansion

Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) is increasing its intermodal capacity by adding new equipment, and is expanding its services to include intermodal transportation between Charlotte, N.C., and a number of locations in South Florida.
