NJT: Bi-level EMUs, more dual-power locos on tap

NJ Transit has issued an RFP (request for proposals) for supply of 113 bi-level EMU (electric multiple-unit) passenger cars with a bid closing date of Feb. 15, 2018. NJ Transit also plans to invite bids early in 2018 for 17 dual-power locomotives.

Metrolinx RFI eyes EMU and locomotive options

Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area agency Metrolinx has issued a Request for Information (RFI) spanning a range of propulsion options for future GO Transit equipment, including electric multiple-units (EMUs), electric locomotives, and dual-power locomotives.

Final rail laid on Denver RTD East Rail Line

Denver’s Regional Transit District (RTD) said Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 that the last steel rail had been laid in RTD’s East Rail Line, linking Denver Union Station and Denver International Airport, at roughly the midway point.

Rio de Janeiro EMUs go into service

Electric multiple-unit (EMU) trains manufactured by China’s CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. went into operation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on March 20. An inaugural ceremony was held on that date.

Sao Paulo gets first Bombardier rehabbed EMU

Bombardier Transportation said Thursday that the company, part of a consortium, has unveiled the first of 26 six-car modernized metro trains for Companhia Metropolitana do Metro de São Paulo (CMSP). The train is ready to commence service on Line 1 of the São Paulo metro network, with all necessary tests having been completed, Bombardier said.
