NYAB acquires Snyder Equipment

New York Air Brake announced March 15 that it has acquired locomotive fueling, servicing and component remanufacturing company Snyder Equipment Co. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Invensys Rail Corp. announces PTC acquisition

Invensys Rail Corp. has acquired privately held PHW, Inc. from the current owner/managers for up to $24 million. Invensys says the acquisition was completed May 10. Pittsburgh-based PHW, Inc. will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Invensys Rail Corp.

Investment firm acquires Patriot Rail Corp.

San Francisco-based SteelRiver Infrastructure Partners, an independent investment management firm, said Tuesday it will acquire 100% of the capital stock of Patriot Rail Corp. The firm will make the purchase through its dedicated infrastructure investment vehicle, SteelRiver Infrastructure Fund North America LP.

STB: Michigan files to acquire NS line

The Surface Transportation Board says Michigan’s Department of Transportation has filed an Acquisition Exemption, requesting permission for MichDOT to acquire two sections of NS rights-of-way totaling about 135 miles.

RailAmerica completes acquisition

Jacksonville, Fla.-based RailAmerica, Inc. announced that it has completed the acquisition of a 20% interest in the Wellsboro & Corning Railroad and Industrial Waste Group from Myles Group for approximately $18 million.

Sydney, Australia, to scrap monorail for LRT

New South Wales government officials in Australia have announced that the state has acquired Metro Transport Sydney (MTS), the company that owns monorail and light rail operations, in an A$19.8 million (US$20.6 million) deal. The acquisition is part of a plan to redevelop the Darling Harbour Convention Centre and precinct in Sydney, Australia’s largest city with a population of roughly 4.6 million.
