The U.S. Senate on Oct. 28, 2015 confirmed Acting Federal Railroad Administrator Sarah Feinberg as the agency’s official head. Her appointment was simultaneous with the Senate’s vote passing H.R. 3819, which extended transportation funding for three weeks as a stopgap measure, and also extended the deadline to implement PTC until at least year-end 2018.

Feinberg, a former chief of staff to U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, has been Acting Administrator since January.

“On behalf of America’s rail industry, we congratulate Ms. Feinberg on her confirmation,” said Association of American Railroads President and CEO Edward R. Hamberger. “The rail industry looks forward to continuing to work together with her. The industry and the dedicated men and women who work for our nation’s railroads share a steadfast commitment to safety and will continue to work closely with the FRA Administrator and her team.”
