Sacramento to host rail supply forum

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, along with representatives from the Federal Railroad Administration, will join representatives from original equipment manufacturers Alstom, Bombardier, Electro-Motive Diesel, GE, NipponSharyo, Siemens, Talgo, and Wabtec at a one-day seminar in Sacramento Wednesday. The event is described as a "forum to connect rail industry OEMs with U.S. suppliers in the manufacturing sector."

The California Manufacturing Technology Consulting® (CMTC) and The Corporation for Manufacturing announced plans for the meeting .

Registered to attend the “Next Generation Supply Chain Connectivity Forum” are representatives of 105 manufacturers along with 22 OEMs, plus federal and state staff, banking organizations, consulting organizations, and economic development groups.

The forum is the result of a partnership between the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) “to leverage existing agency capabilities to promote the development of a robust domestic supply-base to support intermodal transportation investment in the United States.”
