After just over two years at the helm, Railway Supply Institute (RSI) President Mike O’Malley is leaving the organization at the end of July. O’Malley, who has served as RSI’s leader since early 2018, is “pursuing an opportunity with a corporation outside the Washington, D.C. area,” RSI said in an announcement. O’Malley joined the organization after serving in a government relations capacity with CSX.

RSI’s board has assigned responsibility for daily oversight of the association to Senior Vice President Nicole Brewin, who has been with RSI for nearly 20 years. The board is also “evaluating a range of strategic and personnel opportunities presented by the vacancy in the President’s role.” In the interim, the board’s Executive Committee will provide management oversight and support to Brewin and other staff members.

“Mike’s experience in both government and the rail industry has served RSI well, and we have accomplished a great deal during his tenure,” said RSI Board of Directors Chairman Jason Connell, President and CEO of Knorr Brake Company LLC“Under his leadership, RSI and our members have shaped critical legislative and regulatory policies affecting our industry and strengthened our voice in the nation’s capital. He also worked with the RSI team to enhance our trade show, educational and committee programs while assisting RSI members address challenging times in recent months due to COVID-19.

“RSI appreciates Mike’s service to the organization and the industry and wishes him the best in his new endeavors. Thanks to the continuing support of its dedicated members, the organization remains healthy and financially stable. RSI is well-positioned to navigate the current situation and emerge a stronger association.”
