With advertising that proclaims “Let’s Go Places,” Toyota wouldn’t be able to live up to its slogan were it not for BNSF Railway’s high-quality performance, moving motor vehicles produced by one of the world’s largest manufacturers from factory to distribution center.

Toyota Logistics Services has named BNSF the 2016 recipient of its President’s Award for Logistics Excellence for the third year in a row. The President’s Award is described as “Toyota’s highest supplier honor given to service partners who demonstrate combined excellence in quality, customer service and on-time performance.” BNSF also received the Toyota Logistics Services Logistics Excellence Awards for on-time performance as well as quality.

In 2016, BNSF handled more than 400,000 Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles throughout the U.S. and Canada, with one of the lowest L&D (loss and damage) rates, delivering 99.86% of Toyota vehicles damage-free “through quality processes at automotive facilities, as well as BNSF train-handling procedures,” the railroad said.

“With regard to on-time performance, BNSF continuously partnered with us to identify opportunities to improve transit times and their overall network efficiency to support our business,” said Toyota Logistics Services Senior Rail and Truck Strategy and Operations Manager Bill Barrett. “When it comes to quality, BNSF epitomized what it means to strategically think continuous improvement. They embraced problem solving practices (Toyota Business Practices) to identify countermeasures for focus lanes, resulting in a damage rate well below our national objective.”

“It is an honor, once again, to be recognized by Toyota with its prestigious President’s Award for the third year in a row,” said BNSF Assistant Vice President Automotive Marketing Dave Fleenor. “We are as focused as ever on ensuring our customers’ vehicles reach their destination on-time and in factory-fresh condition, and the President’s Award is evidence of our employees’ continued efforts to provide exceptional service to our automotive customers.”
