Catastrophic rain and flooding brought by Hurricane Harvey has disrupted Amtrak and Houston Metro transit services.

Metro operates three light rail lines, which will remain closed at until Wednesday. The agency is monitoring the situation, Metro officials said in a statement.

“There is a high likelihood additional suspensions, delays and detours of METRO service will occur until the inclement weather has passed,” the agency said.

Metro mobilized many of its buses to help shuttle residents to shelters.

Amtrak closed its Houston station and flooding led to disruptions on the Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle, the carrier said in a service alert.

The Sunset Limited (Train 1/421 and 2/422) will originate and terminate in San Antonio instead of New Orleans, with no alternate transportation between New Orleans and San Antonio.

Texas Eagle (Train 21/421 and 22/422) will originate and terminate in Fort Worth instead of San Antonio, with alternate transportation provided between Fort Worth and San Antonio.
