AREMA webinar tackles grade crossing safety

A one-hour webinar beginning at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, will address "Highway Rail Grade Crossing" issues confronting the industry, The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) announced Thursday, Sept. 5.

The webinar will be presented by Dr. Eugene (Gene) R. Russell, Kansas State University. Russell’s biography is available here.

“This webinar will identify typical challenges at grade crossings, discuss how crossing geometry can improve safety, and provide an overview of current crossing signage and devices. The content is intended to provide an introduction to grade crossings for railway and highway designers and also provides an overview to those in railway and highway operations,” AREMA said in a statement.
