Robert Zmudzinski has been appointed Vice President and National Rail Systems Engineering Manager in the New York office of WSP USA, with responsibility for leading the firm’s transit and rail systems engineering team and support business development across the U.S.

Zmudzinski has more than three decades of varied transit and rail industry expertise, including work on projects for the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), Los Angeles Metro, Chicago Transit Authority, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, Amtrak and agencies outside of the U.S. He served as the systems integration manager of the MTA’s $4 billion Second Avenue Subway Project and was the project executive for a PANYNJ project to harden and protect the agency’s PATH rapid transit system infrastructure..

“Robert is a proficient rail systems manager with a successful track record defining and executing strategy, managing programs and projects, improving process, and engaging stakeholders,” said WSP Senior Vice President and National Market Leader for Transit and Rail Julie D’Orazio. “He has hands-on experience in the design and installation of the rail systems, serving in a variety of roles including owner, contractor and designer. Robert provides a unique perspective to the development and deployment of systems in the rail environment.”
