Steve Salin, a 20-year Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) veteran, is taking on a new role: Senior Transit Consultant at HDR.

Part of the Transportation Team and based in Dallas, Tex., Salin will work on large regional projects, such as Austin’s Project Connect; provide insight into the Federal Transit Administration’s grant programs; and assist clients on new mobility, mobility as a service, and electrified mobility options.

With more than 40 years of regional transit system planning experience in the public and private sectors, Salin served most recently as DART’s Vice President of Capital Planning, advancing the Dallas CBD Subway D2 project. He also conducted alternatives analysis, preliminary engineering, and environmental review for the agency’s existing 93 miles of light rail; and worked on the Cotton Belt Corridor Regional Rail, DART Red and Blue Line Platform Extensions, and Dallas Streetcar and Extension projects.

Salin is a frequent presenter at American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and American Planning Association (APA) conferences, and is a member of multiple APTA committees or subcommittees.

“Steve’s long record of successful projects shows his mastery of the complex transit project planning and delivery process,” HDR Global Transit Director Tom Waldron said. “We’re thrilled to have him join our team at HDR, and I look forward to how he can help our clients by sharing his considerable expertise in the transit industry.”
