PTSI Transportation recently enhanced its Compendium of Commuter Rail Fares (CRF), mainly a notification to subscribers of any significant fare changes as soon as PTSI hears of them.

This means that subscribers will not have to wait until the quarterly update to remain up-to-date on the state of the fare industry. A second enhancement includes the addition of a summary sheet in the front of each update to quickly identify the changes that are included in the document. These enhancements will capture all pricing efforts intended to overcome the ridership losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to bring passengers back to the systems as the situation normalizes.

The Compendium, initially released in April 2019, is a subscription service that provides the current fare structure, including levels of fares, types of basic fares, and promotional fares of every commuter rail service in the United States and Canada. It directly compares the major differences that exist between fares for all North American commuter rail services. The Compendium is updated and distributed electronically every quarter to subscribers, and includes all fare increases, decreases, or pricing changes occurring on any commuter rail service in that period.

“This is by far the most effective way to see what fare modifications are being made in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic,” PTSI said in a press release.
