Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) formally opened its Orange Line Light Rail Transit extension to its new northwestern terminus at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014.

DART’s website now notes its “Orange Line operates seven days a week to DFW Airport Station, located at DFW Airport’s Terminal A. Trains arrive at DFW regularly from 3:50 a.m. to 1:19 a.m. [Central Time] daily.” Departures from the airport LRT stop run from 4:18 a.m. to 1:12 a.m. on weekdays, 4:06 a.m. to 12:12 a.m. on weekends, DART says.

Scheduled travel time from the airport LRT stop to DART’s Victory Station, a transfer point for Trinity Railway Express, is 46 minutes. Travel time to West End Station/Downtown Dallas, a transfer point for DART Red and Blue Lines, is 50 minutes.

D/FW Airport built the station as part of its construction at Terminal A, the first of the legacy terminals to be renovated. DART opened the new Orange Line extension four months sooner than originally scheduled, something DART began the year hoping to accomplish.

DART has been operating test trains since last April on the extension in preparation for the service.
