Vancouver’s TransLink has appointed Kevin Quinn CEO, effective July 19.

He will succeed Gigi Chen-Kuo, who has been serving as interim CEO since February 2021, when Kevin Desmond resigned following five years of service.

Quinn is currently Administrator and CEO of Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), a role he has held since 2017. He has focused on customer experience and employee engagement; overseen the development of customer-facing real-time tracking technology for local bus and commuter rail service; and introduced the agency’s first mobile payment app, CharmPass. Previously, he served as MTA’s Director of Planning and Programming. Quinn also has private-sector experience, as the Mid-Atlantic Transportation Planning and Policy Manager for STV Inc. in Baltimore, Md.

“We look forward to welcoming Kevin Quinn to the TransLink enterprise, which will benefit from his bold, innovative and customer-centered approach to leadership,” TransLink Board of Directors Chair Tony Gugliotta said. “As TransLink prepares to welcome back more customers to transit and launch a robust ridership recovery plan, we are thrilled to have Kevin lead TransLink into its next chapter.”

In related developments, Thales was recently selected to supply 82 SelTrac™ Vehicle On-Board Controllers (VOBCs) as part of TransLink’s SkyTrain fleet expansion.
