Amtrak has been named to Forbes magazine’s “America’s Best Employers 2022” list of large companies.

Forbes recognized 500 companies—each employing more than 5,000—for workplace excellence. Amtrak ranked No. 110. Companies were categorized by industry, and Amtrak was one of 18 represented under Transportation & Logistics. Also in the category: Schneider National (No. 105), New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (No. 291), United Parcel Service (No. 380), Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (No. 416), and XPO Logistics (No. 449).

Forbes teamed with market research firm Statista “to pinpoint the companies liked best by employees in our annual ranking of America’s Best Employers,” the magazine reported. “To determine the list, Statista surveyed 60,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. All were conducted anonymously, allowing participants to openly share their opinions. The respondents were asked to rate, on a scale of zero to 10, how likely they’d be to recommend their employer. They were also asked to rate their companies on factors such as working conditions, development opportunities and compensation.” Forbes produced two lists: one ranking the 500 large companies receiving the most recommendations, and another ranking the 500 midsize companies (with 1,000 to 5,000 employees) receiving the most recommendations. In total, 1,000 employers were recognized across 25 industry sectors.

“Amtrak has an incredibly bright future, and our people are an important part of it,” said Qiana Spain, Amtrak Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer. “We are actively recruiting and hiring for thousands of additional workers who will be needed to fill jobs requiring high levels of skill that provide good wages and benefits.”
