McNamara Joins HNTB

Michael McNamara, P.E., has joined HNTB Corp. as Regional Senior Director of Rail and Transit Systems and Vice President.

Based in the firm’s King of Prussia, Pa., office, McNamara will provide program management and engineering oversight for HNTB’s major rail and transit projects throughout the eastern United States.

McNamara comes to HNTB with more than 40 years of experience in the design, construction and maintenance of railroads and transit systems, specializing in railway systems engineering. Throughout his career, he has performed design and oversight for numerous U.S. passenger railways.

Most recently, McNamara served as President of Transit and Rail Systems at Gannett Fleming, with responsibility for design, construction and maintenance of railroads and transit systems. McNamara also managed the capacity enhancement program for the Portal Bridge in New Jersey, a key Northeast Corridor link used by NJ Transit and Amtrak.

A registered professional engineer in 15 states and Ontario, Canada, McNamara earned a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University and a Master’s Degree in systems engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

McNamara is chairman of the Penn State University Rail Transportation Engineering program’s advisory board. He also is a member of AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association).
