Frank Castellon has been appointed Chief Safety, Security and Compliance Officer for Metrolink, the 538-route mile, seven-line regional/commuter rail network that spans six California counties.

Castellon served most recently as Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality for Peak Utility Service Group. With more than 17 years of transit and systems safety experience, he has held the positions of Director, Safety and Security for Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District (TriMet); Manager, Safety and Security for Phoenix Valley Metro; Senior Safety Specialist at Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority; and Regional Manager, Systems Safety for Bombardier Transportation in North America.

Additionally, Castellon is certified as a Federal Transit Administration Transit Safety and Security Practitioner, and has served on American Public Transportation Association, USDOT Transit Advisory Committee for Safety, and Center for Urban Transportation Research safety and advisory panels as a subject matter expert. His work on an at-grade crossing risk ranking evaluation and technology study for passenger railroad safety and security resulted in grant funding while serving at TriMet, according to Metrolink.

“The safety of our service is fundamental, and it’s with great regard that we welcome Frank to our leadership team,” said Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle, who took over agency leadership last summer. “As the backbone of the region’s transportation system across six counties [Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura and North San Diego], we look forward to the vision and perspectives Frank will bring to this critical position at Metrolink.”
