Atiyeh joins HNTB rail systems group

Walead Atiyeh

Walead Atiyeh has joined HNTB Corp.’s national rail systems group as project manager. He is based in the firm’s Santa Ana office and currently supports the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Atiyeh has more than 17 years of experience in construction and engineering projects, focused on transit and rail systems, including strategic management, planning, estimating, sourcing and project implementation. He has spent much of his career overseeing multidisciplinary teams.

Prior to joining HNTB, Atiyeh worked on several high-profile rail projects, including the I-255 Light Rail Project for the Regional Transportation District (RTD) in Denver, where he was the systems manager through design and construction. He also served on the Denver Union Station Redevelopment Project for RTD and the Colorado Department of Transportation, RTD’s Denver Transportation Expansion Project, and Sound Transit Link Light Rail.

Additionally, Atiyeh has extensive experience with numerous transit and rail disciplines, including transit systems integration, train communication construction, and project engineering and controls.

Atiyeh earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business.
