Women in Rail 2017 – Jenny Carr, L&W Industries

Recognized for her integrity, core leadership skills and hands-on approach, since taking the reins at L&W as president in 2012 Carr has driven the company to annual double-digit revenue growth, maintained profitability, and increased the range of high quality signal products and services to its customers.

With engineering degrees from Texas A&M and the University of Houston, Carr worked eight years in railroading and more than three decades in manufacturing. As a relentless competitor who maintains the highest ethical standards, Carr helped L&W secure multiple patents to broaden its customer base in freight and transit. Her commitment to being a good leader and business partner instills a sense of pride in her team, and translates to success regardless of gender or special status.

Carr taught classes at Missouri State University and worked with Ozark Technical College on industry outreach programs. She is also a philanthropist and contributor to Springfield, Mo., parks and recreation, and a board member of the Springfield Industrial Park Coalition as well as several private businesses.
