Rio Grande Pacific Corporation has appointed rail industry veteran Tres Meyer as Chief Operating Officer of its Nebraska Central Railroad Company. He will report RGPC President Robert Bach.

With a degree from Texas Christian University, Meyer began his railroad career 16 years ago as a conductor with RailTex, which later merged with RailAmerica and is now part of Genessee & Wyoming. Since then, he has held several posts with that firm, including Manager of Safety, Training, and Operating Practices for seven states in the Central Region reaching from North Dakota to South Texas, as well as General Manager posts in Connecticut, Alabama, and Kansas, most recently with Kyle Railroad.

“We continue to broaden our base of leadership and expertise,” said Bach. “Tres adds other dimensions of knowledge in a diverse portfolio such as safety, government affairs, and union relationships, as well as environmental issues.”

“Rio Grande has a terrific reputation in this industry,” said Meyer. “I have always admired the way they go about their business and the way they treat their people and their customers. I’m here to help strengthen these categories even more. I am especially excited about being part of a team that plans to create a culture of safety at Nebraska Central Railroad, the kind of culture that will become an industry standard.”

Founded in 1986, Rio Grande Pacific Corporation has rail operations in Nebraska, Louisiana, Oregon, Idaho, Oklahoma and Texas. The firm also has extensive national holdings in commercial real estate, energy and technology.
