IntelliTrans, a global provider of multi-modal supply chain and logistics solutions for bulk and break-bulk product manufacturers, boosts its data security. Also, Georgia Ports Authority launches a Novis container terminal operating system at the Port of Savannah.

IntelliTrans, which this year marks 30 years in business, has achieved SOC 1 and 2 Type II Compliance. With this compliance, the company can assure “customers and prospects that their data is as secure as possible,” reported IntelliTrans, which noted that it “goes above and beyond the information security requirements by sharing documented policies with employees, trading partners, customers and vendors.”

Additionally, IntellTrans said that as a tech-enabled service provider, it has been able to help customers who have experienced a cybersecurity event “by augmenting their team so the customer can continue with its business-critical activities.”

“Everybody in our industry remembers the impact of the hack of Colonial Pipeline had on the country, which highlights the need for everyone, from employees to trading partners and vendors, to do their part to protect their information,” IntelliTrans President Ken Sherman said. “Hackers and other bad actors are taking advantage of the vulnerabilities caused by the pandemic with many of us working from home. Now is the time to be diligent with your information security policies.”

IntelliTrans Director of IT Operations Harold Vickers added “that achieving SOC compliance is a process, not an event. It never stops, and we are always looking for areas of improvement as threats are always evolving. What worked yesterday may not work tomorrow.”

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has implemented the Navis N4 Container Terminal Operating System at the Garden City Terminal in the Port of Savannah. The aim: “to optimize planning, visibility and asset utilization at the Garden City Terminal,” said Bill Sutton, Chief Information Officer of GPA, which operates deepwater ports in Savannah and Brunswick, together with inland terminals in Chatsworth, Bainbridge, and Columbus. “The system eliminates data silos, improves velocity across our terminals, and enables us to more easily integrate with our customers to provide the data and insights they need.”

Navis explained that the system optimizes processes, quickly exchanges data with shippers and carriers, and improves cargo movement visibility by connecting GPA’s multiple port terminals and inland rail terminals in one system.
